I might as well give this a try. Since there's no more 1up yours podcast (damn you UGO *shakes fist*) i have a video game podcast void.
I played, beat and enjoyed the original Mafia. I liked it much more than GTA because it was more mature in execution. But the new trailer for 2 just doesn't sit well with me. It looks too... "loose". Too goofy to be the sequel to the original. The new one seems more like "Saprano's" while the original was more like the godfather in my opinion.
Hahahahaha.
You ever played the original Mafia? If you did i'm sure you wouldn't be impressed so far with the new one. I know i'm not. The first Mafia was a great game with a very mature story and characters. Very believable. The new one seems more... I don't know it reminds me more of the old GTA's than the original Mafia.
Sorry dude, but i'm refraining from watching any more Killzone 2 vids. Hell i haven't even watched ballet of bullets. I'm just waiting for the game to come out. I want to be fully surprised about everything i play through. No prior conceptions about what's going to happen etc.
I think they'll give it to Grand Theft Auto 4. But in my heart i hope they give it to LittleBigPlanet. Playing with a friend in that game is the most fun i've had in a very, VERY long time.
I think the reason why Killzone 2 is getting so much hype (aka attention) is because now people are giving it the benefit of the doubt. Before people would just say "And oh yeah that infamous E3 05 CGI vid, HA good luck matching that. Sony you liar, liar, LIARSSSS". Now it's leading up to when its almost about to get released and the graphics are very impressive. Early hands on impressions are saying almost nothing but good things so people are expecting it to be a pretty damn good...
I agree with most of the points except for "overhyped exclusive titles". Besides Lair and maybe Haze what other games can you name that was hyped and didn't deliver? That's not "alot" of exclusive overhyped tripe, that's just 2.
Pretty good numbers all around. Surprised that the Wii didn't sell more in NA for December but still damn good. My sister's significant other brought her a 360 arcade with Viva Pinata so i knew the console was going to sell pretty damn good this holiday.
I think what this article misses as well (well just this one point) is age. Yes age. The newer age gamers kids growing up with Halo and games from that era and that's what they know. They know multiplayer. This is still pretty inherent in gaming in that gaming appeals is still pretty much geared towards a younger crowd. Some older games from the SNES/Genesis days and older maintain that love for single player experience. At least all the ones i talk to.
Playing online even thoug...
I think they underestimate how little i care how much Sony sales the Ps3. I mean as long as it's a nice consistent basis where it's relevant that game publishers and developers bring their product on the system so that i can play. That's all that really matters.
In a sense this article reminded me of the Dreamcast. "Was the Dreamcast too radical in which games it released for it's own good?" No, because it comes down to user experience in my opinion. Not corporate wars...
Very impressive collection. A few copies of BioShock and Mass Effect and i love how you have the Dremacast on your top shelf. Better yet i see you have Odin Sphere as well, i thought my girlfriend was the only person that brought that game. Bubbles for the fine collection.
Great point. It used to get bashed to bits "never going to live up to the graphics benchmark, the first was a dud" etc. It deserves the early praise so far. But we don't exactly need ALL this pre-release hype (to an extent). Let the game speak for itself when it comes out so it can truly show what it's made of.
I agree with the article. I have the same sentiment towards Killzone 2 and my expectations have been tampered. I'm treating it as a new franchise/I.P instead of a sequel. Specially since you know, i never played the original. I expect it to be a very solid, fun game. With solid online.
Can't wait to play as Saboteur.
The trick about SF2HD on PSN is to leave voice chat off. When voice chat is off there is no lag what so ever. When it's on, you'll get a spotting of lag here and there.
I wasn't expecting such an awesome list. Leading off with Black 2 and Theif 4? Awesome.
This article nails basically what i think just more vehemently than what i would have said it. But i don't really worry about what the media says too much anymore concerning the "console war".
I agree with you realness. While the Ps dpads are better they are no Nintendo/Sega dpads (the best ever created period). It's hard doing shoryukens consistantly because you have to hold both the down and forward button at the same time to get diagonally down forward. Not to mention my thumbs take a beating after extended play.
Couldn't agree more. It's why SF3 in my opinion is the best fighter ever created. Parrying by far was probably the 1 best thing they implemented into the game? Ryu spamming hadokens? No problem parry. Are they shoryukening you on every wake up jump in? Parry. Still looking forward to the new street fighter though.
But i think i'll be picking up Killzone 2 first.
Real men have honor, honor and a peeeeenis. I love Shin Chan.
Can't wait for Killzone 2. I even find myself looking forward to this game more and more and i don't particularly like fps's that much.
Why am i interested in this game? Firstly the gritty universe. I love the look of it, the Helghasts look like worthy badguys that i'd want to take out. And the multiplayer looks AMAZING. My favorite online game of this gen, and ever is Team Fortress 2. I love that class based online system and with it looking like a emphasis on teamwork i'm sold. I prefer more of a team orientated multiplayer vs game than just a game if there's 1 great player he can basically rule the entire game.
